If you did not see the Perseids in person...
This is something that makes me reject the views of those who seem certain we are only material beings and have no spiritual dimension. What matters is not that shooting stars are beautiful, but that we KNOW they're beautiful. Of what possible evolutionary advantage is the ability to feel awe and wonder and pleasure at the beauty of the universe? I don't believe our theories about evolutionary biology are wrong, but I do believe they are incomplete. There's something about us no analysis of DNA will ever capture.

Exactly... there is no conflict between evolution and the bible. Only conflict between the evolution and some interpretations of the bible.
Saw the very tail end of a program that was suppose to examine if the universe was created by God. I tuned in to hear them say that at the beginning of the big bang time stopped. So there was no time before the big bang.
I thought they were going to conclude that this meant there had to be a God, since the notion of before time began is straight out of the bible basically. Instead they said that God could not have started the universe since there was not time for him to start it in!
Amazing how two people can come up with the exact opposite conclusion from the same evidence.
How could anything from our universe start without time to start it in? Is their contention that the big bang didn't happen?
