We now have an open-access journal dedicated to "lost" species - those that have not been recorded for a decade or more. The Journal of Lost Species, a most praiseworthy effort, was launched by biologist Matt Forister, who estimates that some 4,000 known species meet this criterion. Forister makes a point of inviting contributions from around the world by anyone with information to share. He said, "We’re creating a community of people that are interested in finding things that are on the verge of extinction,” Congratulations to Matt for turning an excellent idea into reality.
